Thunderbird is Go

I have long advocated Mozilla’s Firefox over Microsoft’s Internet Explorer for web browsing. It renders web pages the way they are supposed to render, or at least closer to the way they are supposed to, than IE, and is safer.
When it comes to Office applications, I suggest Open Office over Microsoft Office. It does nearly [...]

Lost Season 2 Finale

Sara hasn’t watched the finale yet, so I won’t post too much beyond just saying wow at the moment.

Get Well Soon Grandpa

My grandpa is in the hospital for a little while. With Sara working the mornings, and me in the evenings, I probably won’t make it down to the hospital right now, but hopefully this weekend. (Having only one car can suck). Get well soon grandpa.

Network Neutrality

A lot has been made lately about Network Neutrality, and while I would normally argue that government regulation is a bad thing, I would argue here that it is needed. We can’t have ISP, especially the upstream ISPs, charging more for certain access. Say SBC decides it doesn’t like Google “using it’s pipes for free.” [...]

You Don’t Own What You Own

It is looking like Sony will not let people sell their pre-owned games. The games will come with a license where you can’t sell a used PS3 game on eBay, your local game trade store, or whatever. Of course then the store can’t sell a used game either. If Sony is stupid enough to try [...]

Who Killed the Electric Car

Who Killed the Electric Car is a new exciting movie coming out this summer. Not exciting in the action sense, but in the it is about time sense. Aside from the global warming fear mongering BS that they engage in on the site, and one would presume in the movie, it is a very well [...]

Free TiVo

If you haven’t gotten a TiVo unit, now is your chance. TiVo is giving units away for free in exchange for signing up for the TiVo service. The two tuner box, so you can record 2 shows at once, will cost $30, well worth the upgraded cost (the free one is has only 1 tuner). [...]

Revisiting an Old Favorite Video

I watched Napoleon Dynamite again last night, and in the spirit of that, I present once again the “Bill Gates - Napoleon Dynamite” video.

Edit: Video link fixed, sorry.

Ari ignored his mother’s advice not to run near the steps outside the house the other day and rolled off the steps in what seemed like slow motion to me. While he got a couple big scratches, I think it scared him more than hurt him. “Bad rake,” he said to the rake that [...]

More Asperger Syndrome

The more I research it, the more it looks like I may have it for sure.
I don’t think I could do a GFCF diet, which really is only supposed to help the worst aspects of the syndrome. Wheat is too big a part of my diet, and Ezekiel bread or Spelt bread cost too much [...]

Bee Terror Over

The bees are gone. The bee keeper for the area picked up the bees. He lifted the planter and just slid the bees into a box with his hands. They said the original hive got crowded out and so the old queen left with half the hive, and these are the ones we saw. There [...]

Bee Terror In Canton

So I am out in the yard, shoveling gravel back onto the driveway. I hear a loud buzzing sound but ignore it for a minute. When I look up, a big wall of bees is coming right at me and I take off down the street. For several minutes I couldn’t go near my house [...]

What Boxing Needs

What boxing needs, in the humble opinion of an under educated fan, who probably doesn’t know enough to actually have a valid opinion:

An end to the alphabet soup mess.
There are way too many sanctioning organizations. We have the WBA, the WBC, the IBF, and the WBO, and those are the ones I know of. Each [...]

RFID In Humans and the Bush Connection

RFIDs (Radio Frequency Identification) are tiny little microchips that will in the near future be put into most products you buy. They will serve several functions. Setting off the anti-theft alarms and product identification are the main selling points. If a person tries to steal an item, the alarm in theory could say what item [...]

Proof Some Folks Shouldn’t Vote

Nagin re-won the Election in New Orleans, despite being the single person most responsible for not evacuating the city’s poor. Nagin refuses a Federal evacuation order, until it is nearly too late, then sends the city bus drivers out of the city without having them take the poor, careless people out. Then FEMA responds faster [...]

Contender 2

There doesn’t seem to be much information out there about The Contender 2 at the moment. What I can gather so far is that it should have been filmed already. It was likely to focus on Welterweight class fighters (147 lbs weight limit, Jr. Welterweight’s limit is 140 lbs, so from there to 147). I [...]

This Site Is Worth…

LeapFish values this site at a base value of $255.00 with an actual value of $10,838.00. While Business Opportunities values it at $564.54, based largely on Technorati results. My guess is the actual value would be somewhere between that and much less than the $10,838 mark, though I wouldn’t sell it even for that.

Asperger Syndrome

Sara is thinking I may suffer from Asperger syndrome. I don’t know, it definitely sounds like a possibility. A self test scored me fairly high on the possibility of it.

Sara’s Turn

Since Sara didn’t get sick like Ari and I did last time, she is getting sick this time. Okay, probably no cause and effect, but Sara is sick while Ari is relatively well and I am well. Ari actually has a bit of a runny nose, but that is about it now. While Sara got [...]
