40 Years of Life… Almost

Soon I’ll be 40 years old. Wow.
We got a used XBox 360 for a really good deal from Sara’s brother (he upgraded to a fancy new version), so my wish lists has modified some, since we no longer need that.
Top item on the list continues to be a GPS for Geocaching (not for car use so much), either a Garmin Oregon 400T or a DeLorme Earthmate PN-40. The DeLorme unit is cheaper, but really isn’t that usable outside the US. The Garmin unit is a bit more expensive, but is better for car use and easier to use outside the US. (As a low end choice is the Garmin nĂ¼vi 500 which is a car unit, but is portable in that it can be taken out and used on the trails, but you really need a good carry case for that one, and by the time you add the stuff to bring it up to usable for geocaching status, you already are at what the Delorme unit runs). In the end the Garmin Oregon is what is most wanted.
With us now having an XBox 360, the item most wanted for it is Xbox 360 Rock Band 2 Special Edition with all the instruments and all that jazz… that and a Xbox 360 Live 12 Month Gold Card plus 1 Month Bonus membership so we can use it online.
New to the list is the Nikon D40 6.1MP Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens. This is the camera that Ken Rockwell recommends the most. With the money saved by going for the D40 over more expensive DSLRs, he suggests getting a Nikon SB-400 AF Speedlight for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras which allows for a separate flash.

Updating Wishlist for Christmas

Edit: December 02, 2008. The lists have been updated today with more items. Be sure to check the lists regularly as we’ll add items off and on. Also, a small reminder that we earn a very small percentage off all our Amazon sells, so if you can, buy directly from the links. Again, these lists will be updated from now until nearly Christmas.
Arrange the list by ranking to see what is at the top of the list and what is at the bottom. The default arrangement is newest items on the top, which may be the least wanted.
Brian’s Christmas List. As for the XBox 360 on the list, I was thinking if the family got together to buy it, it would make it easier… The Neon Genesis stuff is probably higher on the list at the moment.
Here is Ari’s Christmas List.

Father’s Day GPS Deals

Amazon has some Father’s Day GPS Deals. Unfortunately none of the GPSrs that I am looking at are part of the deal… as a matter of fact, none of the ones that they have a deal on would work for much of any of the stuff I want a GPS for aside from road navigation, none of them would work for geotagging photos, though a couple would work as very basic geocaching units, but aren’t really meant to be taken on a hike as they aren’t rugged enough. So I am still looking at the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx Color High-Sensitivity Mapping Handheld GPS as the unit of choice (at the low end, or the Garmin 010-00422-00 GPSMap 60CSx 2.6-Inch Mapping Handheld GPS at the high end since I decided against a Garmin Colorado 300 Bilingual Handheld GPS Unit with North American Maps for now due to firmware issues… though those will be cleaned up… probably soonish). I detailed everything in my last post, Locked Down on a GPS Choice.
