Dear friends and family, If you want to give World of Warcraft a try, let me know, I’ll send you a code that will upgrade the normal 10 day free trial to a 14 day free trial (how you get the client, via download or the $1.99 CD doesn’t matter). Then because you have that code we can quest together, gain experience points faster, and I can show you around the game world. (The CD has a 14 day free trial as well, but you will not gain the experience points three times as fast, and if you do the free 10 day code first you won’t be able to do the 14 day trial with double the experience points.) The client is free (if you download it) and you get 14 days to try it for free, you have nothing to loose but a little time (I would suggest that once you get the client, to let it patch overnight as that seems to be what it takes).
I should warn you. You probably will end right back here and buy World of Warcraft Battle Chest (a great deal for $29.99 as Wal-Mart and Best Buy want $39.99 for it), if you like that (and you will) then you’ll be back and add World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Expansion Pack
for another $29.99, again a deal as both those places want $39.99 for it… with the $20 you save you then could get World of Warcraft 60 Day Pre-Paid Time Card
for $28.99 saving money off Blizzard’s monthly rate… and the prices for the games are cheaper this way than buying through Blizzard directly via the game client/account page.
Of course if you pay a full month then I get a free month off my account, but you gain 4 extra free days of trail, and you gain extra experience points to level faster…. you can pay it forward by requiting other friends/family of yours into it and get a free month yourself. The 3 times the experience points only works if you do this requite a friend method, and only while we are partied together. The experience bonus doesn’t work with the code from the 14 day CD, the CD can save you download time for the client however…

Dear Brian,
Very interesting, World of Warcraft is a game that is very addictive to millions of people around the world. The people who participate in WoW are very competitive. Blizzard has built a lot of things you can compete for in the game.
BTW great blogpost
