Largest Single Day Primary Fundraising Ever

Remember remember the 5th of November indeed!
Ron Paul, whom if we are to believe the press and the “official” polls, despite finishing in the top 3 of nearly every straw poll, having more donations from active military personal then any other candidate, and a huge Internet presence, being fourth in donations for the GOP last quarter, doesn’t register on the main stream media focus. They can’t ignore him today though. Ron Paul has made more in one day today (the 5th of November) then any other Primary candidate has ever earned in American history, and it looks like he may get close to Kerry’s record of $5.6 million one day record which came during the general election campaign. This is actual money in the coffers, not just pledged (unlike Romney’s claim a while ago which was mostly pledges). At the start he was about $2.8 million, as of 11:57 pm Eastern it is near $7.1, so about a million off Kerry’s general election record. Wow! There were over 35,000 or so individual donations, which I think is another record. I think people will have to start taking the campaign seriously now.

Update: It may be the record for Republicans. There are claims that Hillary did more back in June. However, the individual donations record looks like it will stand.
