Ron Paul Excluded in Iowa
Jun 20th, 2007 by Brian A. Thomas
Ron Paul Excluded in Iowa is the headline of an email I got from the Ron Paul campaign today. It read in part.
Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance will host a presidential candidates forum on Saturday, June 30th in Des Moines. Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, Tommy Thompson, and Tom Tancredo will participate.
Further down it said:
Lew Moore, our campaign manager, called Mr. Edward Failor, an officer of Iowans for Tax Relief, to ask about it. To our shock, Mr. Failor told us Dr. Paul was not invited; he was not going to be invited; and he would not be allowed to participate. And when asked why, Mr. Failor refused to explain. The call ended.
I am lost and confused. Ron Paul is the tax payer’s best friend. The only person running who would actually work to bring real honest to God tax relief. Here is an organization that says they are “for Tax Relief” and yet they only invite big government spenders? Perhaps they are confused about what relief means.

Ahh… now it is clear. Iowans for Tax Relief meant to call themselves Iowans for Tax Intensification.
Perhaps it was the Iowans Christian Alliance, the Iowans for Tax Intensification partner in this little get together that wanted to keep Ron Paul out. They clearly haven’t read my You Can’t and Shouldn’t Legislate Morality article which was aimed mostly at Christians, using the Bible, in context to show that God doesn’t approve of legislating morality. They may see that while Ron Paul may personally object to gay marriage, he has no problem with any state that wants to legalize it. He wants to end the drug war. He believe in individual liberty, not legislating morality. He’s against the war, a typically Republican view, but for some odd reason the party has changed sides. Some, or all those may be reasons they may object. They just need to read my article, be educated and demand Ron Paul be part of it. Ron Paul, on a personal level, may be one of the more conservative people running, no he won’t force his views on the states or the people, but that is a good thing.
My guess, they were paid not to let him in… or they really are Iowans for Tax Intensification and the Iowans Christian Alliance feel they are better then God, and blatantly defying Him, feel the need to legislate morality.
ABC meanwhile has invited him to participate in the Iowa debate on August 5th, so I guess the people of Iowa will have to wait until the nationally televised debates to get a better idea of who Ron Paul is and what he stands for.
EDIT: Ah, it seems the head of Iowans for Tax Reform is senior advisor to the McCain campaign in Iowa. Thanks to the Daily Paul for that bit of news. So they might not be Iowans for Tax Intensification, just the head of the organization has a clear and present conflict of interest.
