The Most Amazing Printer Ever!
Apr 15th, 2007 by Brian A. Thomas
Silverbrook Research has came out with a new printer technology that will allow it to print 60 full A4 (8.3 × 11.7) pages in full color in just one minute, that is one second for each page. This MemJet technology should be out late 2007.
More info on the printer here, and their analysis of of it it is a hoax or not (they say "no"). (While you are at the Texyt webiste, take note of their story on how the long overdue price reduction on inkjet cartridges are on their way.) Then of course there is the official MemJet page, of specific interest is the Home and Office section.

How much? According the the Texyt page noted above, $200 for the A4 version.
The MemJet page has more on how it works.
The A4 version doesn't look to be out until 2008, though a photo printer (a 4x6 photo every 2 seconds) should be out by the second half of the year. They won't be coming from MemJet themselves, but other venders who license the technology.
I have to think this will revolutionize the printing industry. Even if regular inkjet cartridges weren't already expected to come down in price, I would think the presence of MemJet technology would force them to lower prices... My biggest complaint about inkjet is that if you don't print regularly, even if an ink cartridge is still full, it won't print as it dries up at the base, so you are out another $12 to $20. If it was only $6 at the high end, then I wouldn't mind, but the current range of prices for a new cartridge is just stupid. Supposedly MemJet is more frugal with it's ink (despite using every head every time, even if that color isn't used) and won't dry out in the head as much. Time will tell... I for one can't wait to start reading the reviews for these once they start coming out.
