Sen. Ted Stevens, the idiot Republican who called the Internet a “series of tubes” when he was in charge of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, which is supposed to be the ones who regulate the Internet in the US. Yes, the idiots in control of the Internet at Congress have no clue how the Internet works… Anyhow, he has introduced a new bill to ban any interactive social networking sites such as MySpace, which due to the broad definition, would include Wikipedia, at any school or library that may receive federal funding. (Story.) The supposed purpose of the bill is to protect children from online predators, which, while noble is misdirected, there are better ways to do it. Of course then again, I would suggest stop federal funding of schools and libraries, that is what the local taxes are for…
