Solar for Free

They install it, maintain it and do all the permits. You pay the same electric rate you do now for 25 years, so this can save you a ton over the time period. (We don’t qualify as you need a phone line, needed for the monitoring system, nor does our electric provider, AEP, provide net metering, though I could switch to another provider that does… not to mention we don’t intend to stay here for 25 years…) I read one place you kept your net metering costs, but I would think that they would keep it themselves and that is where they make their money…
You do have to pay a $500 deposit, though they are, or were running a deal where they waived it. I don’t see another rental fee beyond paying them for the electricity you use.
It does have it’s detractors however. Here’s one notable one, to which they seem to respond well to. However it seems to be a fairly good plan, especially if the $500 deposit is dropped, which seems to be the primary concern of most. There is also concern over some multi-level-marketing aspects of the program, though I didn’t check it out that far.
I should note that my support of solar energy and other renewable energy sources has nothing to do with “global warming,” but removing our dependence on foreign oil. Yes, global warming exists, and I am sure humans are part of the problem. People who are close to believing the lie of global warming need to read State of Fear by Michael Crichton, if only to read the Author’s Notes and Appendix. Also read Is the Sky Really Falling? A Review of Recent Global Warming Scare Stories which is a short paper, or Meltdown: The Predictable Distortion of Global Warming by Scientists, Politicians, and the Media
which is a full book on the subject.
