The Fallout Starts

Okay, I know, I said I’ll let up on the political posts some. I guess the keyword there was some. I would guess after enough time has passed from the election my upset levels will be down enough to let regular posts take over.
The new leadership in Washington is making promises and moves to repeal Bush’s tax cuts… odd how they didn’t make the promise to raise taxes before elected. They have also promised to punish the oil companies… odd how they want to punish them but not the drug companies or banks who make more than twice as much profit. They are looking to raise the national minimum wage again, which will once again hurt small business owners more then places like Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart can raise their price across more products, small businesses have less a product range to move the price of stuff up on. People always forget that prices must rise to match the rise in minimum wage. Worse, people who have been at the location for and are above the new minimum wage won’t get a raise. So you have worked at the place 2 years, and now make only $0.05 above the new minimum and the new guy will make more then you after his 90 days are up… that’s fair. But who ever said the left was concerned about fair.
Unemployment is at record lows. Our tax burden, while still overly heavy, isn’t nearly as bad as it was under Clinton. If the left have their way, unemployment will once again get to record high levels and we’ll return to the Clinton era tax burden…
Of course I don’t know if we have to worry too much. Their lead isn’t that great and I doubt they can get the votes needed to override a veto.
