Shame on Limbaugh

Shame on Rush Limbaugh for making fun of Michael J. Fox. Yes, he did later apologize, but it was wrong of him to do period. While I agree that government funding of stem cell research is wrong, you don’t go making fun of a guy with a disease that gets progressively worse when he is on an ad supporting it. Rather then mock a sick person, you point out the fallacy of the government supporting the one of the most profitable industries in America… and no oil isn’t the most profitable.
The simple fact is that drug companies make nearly 18 cents on each dollar sold (banks are number one with about 19 cents). The oil companies, whom everyone was upset at their profits, make only 9 cents on the dollar, a tad above the 8 cents on the dollar that is considered average for most companies. Yet way too many people want to make the drug companies even more profitable by giving them billions of dollars to do research they could afford to do themselves. It is simple corporate welfare. The liberals make it look like the Republicans are friends of big industry, while they themselves also are, just different, far more profitable industries.
Let’s be clear. This isn’t just against government funded stem cell research alone. I don’t think the government should be giving the drug companies money to research heart disease, cancer or anything else. There is no mandate in the Constitution for it do so. The drug companies would do fine without the government money. Sure their profit per dollar may drop to 8 cents or so with everyone else who doesn’t get billions a year from the government, but thats okay. This is just an excuse for the government to tax death more.
