On Why More People Need to Have and Carry Guns

A gunman opened fire on a one room Amish Schoolhouse (story) killing so far 5 girls with more injured.
Much as the answer to speech you don’t like is more free speech. The way to stop gun violence is to have more guns. If a gunman has to worry about every Tom, Dick and Jane having a gun that can kill him the instant he pulls his gun out, he’ll have to think twice. As the saying goes, if you outlaw guns, the only people who will have guns will be the outlaws. I have no problem with background checks and stopping people with violent crimes or robbery from owning a gun (many other non-violent crimes such as drug violations are not reasons to stop them from owning a gun). However, conceal carry is perhaps one of the best long term solutions… if enough people arm themselves anyhow. From the Wikipedia article on carrying concealed weapons:

FBI Uniform Crime Report (1992) shows that 70% of violent crimes are committed by 7% of criminals, many of whom are on probation or are given parole and early-release. Of incarcerated felons surveyed by the Department of Justice, 34% have been driven away, wounded, or captured by armed Individuals; 40% state that they have decided against committing crimes for fear their would-be victims were armed.

Of course it may not have helped in the situation in the article I noted, but would have helped in other school shootings this week. Amish can own guns, but apparently will not use them in self defense.
My personal weapon of choice? I would like to have a Kahr P9, I think the P40 and P45 may be a bit much, though the 45 has more stopping power. For home defense I am thinking a good shotgun, perhaps a Mossberg 500 Persuader. For target practice at the range (shooting your 9mm all the time would get costly, though you need to practice with it sometimes so you are used to it) to sharpen my shooting skills, a Browning 22… though I am more open on who makes my 22 then on the others.
