It Takes a Village Syndrome
Sep 28th, 2006 by Brian A. Thomas
There is yet another lawsuit against video games (in this case “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City”), brought once again by the worlds biggest idiot lawyer, Jack Thompson, you would think he would learn he can’t win. Isn’t one of the definitions of insanity doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results? Anyhow, Thomson is once again blaming video games for the problems caused by individuals.
Don’t blame the parents, blame video games, movies and society. I have decided to call this “It Takes a Village Syndrome.” For the idiots of the world who think it takes a village to raise a child. It doesn’t take a village, it takes parents, or a parent as the case may be. The parent should be the one who notices how their kid reacts to the game, a game undoubtedly purchased by the parent in the first place. If the child comes away from the game more agrivated and aggressive, then something should be done. If the Columbine kid’s parents had paid attention to their kids, did some parenting, the Columbine situation never would have happened. The sad thing is that way too many people don’t want to parent, and want the village to parent for them. They are aided by the likes of idiots like Clinton and Thompson here who don’t think the parent has a responsibility to their kid, that it lies with all of us to raise the child. No! It is the parents job.
Odd how Thompson and his clients blame the video game and not the father who was massively abusive to the kid who did the slaying. The bad thing is, they wouldn’t blame him even if he was still alive, because they honestly believe the bull crap about it takes a village. Again, no, it takes parents (or a parent).
