Cheyenne Mountain Shutting Down

Technically it is on “Warm Standby,” so it can be used on short notice, but everything is moving to Peterson Air Force Base as NORAD no longer feels there is a threat of ICBM attack. (News Release)

My What Time Do I Leave Friday program is ready for testing. Contact me for the setup file. I can either send it as a zip file, where you unzip it and click the setup.exe, or just send the setup.exe file itself. The zip file is 188kb (under a half minute for most people) and [...]

Beware a Sneezing Baby Panda

I would guess this comes from an Asian version one of those Funniest Home Videos type of shows.

My program What Time Do I Leave Friday will be ready for testing this weekend (26th or probably 27th of August). Let me know if you want to give it to help out and test it out.
The system requirements are a Windows PC (likely will need Windows XP or Windows 98/ME as it needs .Net [...]

Falling Flash Memory Prices

One of the problems with my digital camera is that I currently only have a 32MB Compact Flash card, which fills up fairly quickly. When I got the camera, flash memory prices were a bit higher then they are now. Now a 256MB card, 8 times what I have now can be had for less [...]

For those wondering why the government seems to intent on violating our Constitutional rights, such as the Fourth Amendment, we have an explination from the head of the CIA.
If you forgot what it says (emphasis mine):
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and [...]

In order to become a better developer, I figure these are the things I need. So if anyone out there has a ton of money just wasting away and looking for a good cause…
A good laptop so I can work on my programs when things are dead at work… which was often, but starting [...]

C# Help Needed

If there are any C# programmers out there reading this, perhaps you can help.
First I’ll repost a screen shot of the program I am working on:

Under the Action menu, there is an option to change the Standard Work Week (by default set to 40:00). When the user selects that, the standard work week text box [...]

Name That Microsoft Product

Steven Smith at Microsoft is taking names for Microsoft’s Atlas (more or less Microsoft’s version of AJAX with enhancements). I personally like his suggestion of “Web Technology Framework - WTF (!)” but it is missing the word Foundation, which seems to be on lots of Microsoft technology these days, perhaps switch Framework with Foundation and [...]

While it has to have a final vote, it looks like we will soon have 3 more planets in our solar system for an even dozen. Soon after that they may be anywhere from 24 to 53 planets in our solar system, depending on how further studies go on.
If you don’t remember the current 9 [...]

I thought about the fact that some people may not have the time they worked so far in the week, just a time sheet of times in and out. I don’t want to turn this into a time clock application, but I decided that I would add a Hours Worked So Far Calculator to [...]

You Too Can Make XBox 360 Games

Anyone using Visual C# 2005, Express Edition can now make games for the XBox 360!
There is a small licensing fee to pay per year, $99. I am guessing the main part of that is a place to host the game so your XBox 360 can access it. It also gives you access to more tools [...]

STICKY: A Locked Door Means Nothing

New stories are below this one. This is so important I thought it should stick to the top for a while.
There is a technique for opening locks that is gaining popularity. Unlike lock picking, it requires no special skills and can be used on pretty much all locks, from the normal pin-tumbler, dimple locks, Mul-T [...]

I made my first semi-practical C# program over the last couple of days. I probably would have had it done in less then one day had I the time.
Here is a screenshot:

In short here is what the program does:
The user enters the hours they worked so far out of 40. (The second version will allow [...]

Time Fountain

You have to check out this cool video. It is a water fountain where LED strobe lights are synced in a way to make water drops look like they are going slower then they really are, stop and go backwards. Some of the details on how it works can be found at his homepage. That [...]
