Scanner Darkly uses interpolated rotoscoping, basically meaning that they filmed live actors on live sets, then placed animation over them, giving the film an unusual look.
The film takes place in the very near future (7 years) and stars Keanu Reeves, Woody Harrelson, Robert Downey Jr., Rory Cochrane, Winona Ryder and others. The plot is kind of hard to summarize as I haven’t read the book. Nearly as I can tell is that there is a new drug out there called D, which is highly addictive and dangerous. Meanwhile there is lots of spying on everything that everyone does. Keanu, the main star, is a reluctant undercover officer, who wears a scrambler suit, must now spy on his friends… Bad summary, watch the trailer (below), then if it looks cool, follow the link above and check out the clip.
