The Bear Witch Project

More of a test of a the Extreme Video Plug-in for Wordpress than anything else.
Anyhow, this is a parody of The Blair Witch Project staring The Muppets. (Not done by the Jim Henson company, but fans, or at least I think.) Warning: The ending of Blair Witch will be spoiled by this.

Family History Page Back

The family history page is back. I am not accepting user accounts at this time, and if you had one before, sorry but it was lost when I deleted everything after the hacker attack.
It may be a while before I really do much more to the page. Sorry it took so long.

More on the Kind of Car the US Needs

Previously I talked about the kind of car we need here in the USA. In short, a Flex-Fuel Plug-in Electric Hybrid. A Hybrid, like the Toyota Prius, but with a Flex-Fuel engine (can use ethanol either E-100 (100% ethanol) or the much advertise E-85 (85% ethanol)), and the extra battery capacity to be able to [...]

Samurai Sword Vs Arrow

Check out this video of a Maser Samurai vs an Arrow. He uses his sword to deflect arrows coming at him. While they are not a modern bow and arrow set, more a traditional set, it is still impressive.

If you have wondered where to put your snot after picking your nose, wonder no more. Ari’s solution was to put it in his mom’s nose. I guess that was a belated Happy Mother’s Day gift for her.

Babylon 5 and V for Free!

V, Babylon 5 and many other shows are available for free at AOL. Quality is okay. The really bad thing is you will need to use IE to access them and have WindowsXP. XP is okay, requiring IE is just evil.

Lost Season 2 DVD Set Update

In an earlier post I had problems linking to the proper Lost - The Complete Second SeasonDVD set. Well this has been fixed in that post. Here it is again so you don’t have to look for the old post (which I am too lazy and tired at the moment to link to myself). [...]

Operator Overloading

While reading the chapter that covers operator overloading in Murach’s C#, I got confused on a rather simple question that I would have expected to be covered. I then referred to Visual C# 2005 How to Program, which didn’t seem to have an answer either. So I modified Deitel’s Figure 11.17 and 11.18 (the one’s [...]

Lost S2E21 - ?

Yet another stunning episode of Lost.
Before we get to that.
Here is the book that Swayer was reading the other week:

Bad Twin
I have to wonder if any real clues are in it, or if it is mostly red herrings. I like that one of the reviews comments:
I bought this book because I had read about the [...]

Text Improvement

I modified the CSS for the site, so the text should be easier to read. It seemed a bit small before, especially inline code. The inline code was made bigger and I added a background color to help show when I was using inline code. The text size may go up again, I don’t know, [...]

Todays C# Lesson

I was working on Exercise 12-1 in Murach's C# book and learned a few things:

You will get a warning if you have an & in the XML comments, as in /// Murach's C# by Joel Murach & Doug Lowe.. The reason is that the XML parser is expecting stuff followed by a semi-colon to represent [...]

The Kind of Car We Need

When I say the kind of car we need, I mean us as in the United States, not just Sara and I. Heck, it is the type of cars the world needs.
With the growth and promotion of E-85 (85% Ethanol 15% gas) recently. Lots of attention has been going to flex-fuel vehicles. Unfortunately at the [...]

Truly Odd Bug

I am not sure if it is a WordPress thing, a Firefox/IE bug, something with my computer, or what. For some reason none of my links to GeSHi seem to work. I get a blank page. Now with IE, it seems all I have to do is hit refresh and the page will then load. [...]

Got a fancy DVR and want to fast forward through the commercials, or channel surf during the commercials? Such things will be a thing of the past if you get a DVR that uses the technology in a patent that was filed recently by a unit of the Royal Philips Electronics (story). You gain the [...]

As noted before, to post code in WordPress, I use the ig:Syntax Hiliter plugin. It uses the GeSHi engine.
I recently decided to modify the way it colors C# code. In particular I wanted to separate XML style comments from regular comments.
To that end I modified the PHP code in GeSHi's C# file.

I was working on Exercise 9-2 in Murach's C# and came across a problem that may be beyond the scope of what they wanted solved.
The idea was to take a text box where a user entered their name, turn it into a string, then parse it to find the user's first, middle(optionally) and last name. [...]

The Best Pizza

The best pizza chain out there right now is Hungry Howie's. If you haven't tried them, be sure to see if one is nearby and give them a go. You won't be sorry. I dare say it is even better then Pizza Hut.

It has been a long standing myth that you only use 10% of your brain. That simply isn't true. They also cover the myth that adults don't grow new brain cells, and lots of other cool ones. No mention of the global warming myth, then again this site seems to support it. Which is odd [...]
