Battlestar Galactica’s Pulse
Apr 27th, 2006 by Brian A. Thomas
Pulse is an upcoming Broadband Internet channel from the Sci-Fi Channel. It will offer older sci-fi channel offerings as well as fresh new content. One of Pulse’s offerings (and perhaps on the Sci-Fi Channel itself, I can’t tell for sure) is a new Battlestar Galactica prequel called Caprica. Taking place around a half century before the current events in Battlestar Galactica, it follows the development of the Cylons. From the show’s announcement:
Following the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas (the family of William Adama, who will one day become the commander of the Battlestar Galactica), Caprica will weave together corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television’s first science fiction family saga, the channel announced.
Sounds like it should be good. I don’t know if it is “television’s first science fiction family saga” though, as I would think that would fit Lost in Space fairly well…
In unrelated sci-fi world news: J.J. Abrams, (co-?)creator of Alias and co-creator of Lost, is writing and directing a new Star Trek movie with one of Lost’s best writers. That should be interesting at the very least. It will be about Kirk in his academy days.
Edit: It has been noted that this is announcement of lots of long-term projects, so Caprica may or may not actually manifest. Let us hope it does. So say we all.
