I finally watched this weeks awesome episode of Lost. Wow.
I am still behind on BSG… which sucks since it is the best show on TV, and I am behind on the survivor counts as well.
As for Lost S2E17 – Lockdown
I figured they would find all the details would match up with his statements. After all, if he was one of the Others, he would know the details anyhow. I didn’t expect them to find the real Gale in the grave. Very unexpected turn of events.
I also loved what was on the door. I am sure I’ll see plenty of screen grabs of it to study in detail.
Since Gale was lying about himself, I have to wonder if he lied about what he did with the numbers. Sara noted he seemed to remember the numbers awful easily.
So they got their supply drop, which means somebody somewhere on the outside world must know the situation.
Okay I found a screen grab of the door in no time at all (taken from TCF… not sure where it came from originally):
Map image on door from Lost - S2E17 - Lockdown
Clicking the picture will load it to the full size.
Does this mean the island is octagon shaped itself?
Swan station, is at 6 o’clock on this map. Going clockwise we see one called Neptune, then the Medical station. A scratched out station, perhaps the one the tail section people were at since it doesn’t look viable anymore. Another station, then two more that use dashed lines, so no idea what that means. In the center is a big ? station. There are four rectangles, 3 of which are near Swan station saying (going counterclockwise from the one to the 7 position of Swan station to the one between it’s halls and onward) CVI, CVII, CVIII, with the one further from it saying CVIV. I giant “I aw [sic] here” points to Swan station. Then there is lots of unreadable text. There appears to be a river system drawn on the map as well. Then there are lines going from station to station. It looks like Swan connects to Neptune, the ? and the station after the next in the counter clockwise direction. Actually, the next one in the counter clockwise direction seems to be lacking a connection at all, as does the scratched out one. I am checking the TCF (where I got the image from BTW), and somebody noticed the word “accident” appears a lot, as well as root 16, root 64.
Somebody on the TCF thought that perhaps the hatch locks down for supply deliveries.
A link to another view of the map, this time with an overlay of text to make what it supposedly says clearer. It has Neptune saying “The Flame”. Very worth checking out.
If the blast doors (obviously not the best term for them since there are vents big enough to crawl through to get around them, which means they wouldn’t prevent a blast too well) lower during deliveries the question rises of why? Why lower and why turn on the ultraviolet light? There was a warning of some type, the a countdown, which was fairly clear, the the door lowered. The problem, as pointed out on the TCF is if you are in that room, you can’t enter the numbers. Perhaps, they say, the warning is to get to the computer room. Then again, perhaps there are blast doors keeping you from leaving the computer room as well.
The woman who’s house that Locke was inspecting… Nadia, Sayid’s long lost love. Good eye TCF.
Another layover image of the map.
My big problem with this episode is that the real Gale used what looks like a fairly conventional hot air balloon to cross an Ocean. Most of the trans-oceanic balloons seem to be far fancier, nearly like giant weather balloons with a pressurized capsule beneath them.
