Ari Solves Blue’s Clues
Mar 31st, 2006 by Brian A. Thomas
I was on the phone with Sara the other day when Ari started making a ruckus. We said goodbye and she went to take care of Ari. She called a short while later letting me know that he had made the ruckus due to solving Blue’s Clues. Apparently from the clues he guessed fire truck, which is indeed what Blue was giving clues to.
The other day the local tornado alarm was being tested, and Ari thought it was a fire truck outside. He kept saying “fire truck! Bye, bye.” Meaning he thought there was a fire truck and he wanted to go outside to see it. He got to see the fire trucks and related stuff the day the neighbor kid got in the transformer. If we tell him to get the fire truck, he’ll get his fire truck toy, same with the train (”choo, choo” to him), and plane, and will play with them all appropriately… though he does like putting one of the people into the plane in a sleeping position, where he’ll say “night, night,” then fly… he also tends to put them into the luggage compartment of the plane…
He seems to be getting a pretty good understanding of what is going on TV, so we’ll have to start watching what we watch in front of him. By way of example, if somebody is hurt, he’ll sometimes go “Oh uh,” turn to us and go “Alright?” Of course he is a very empathetic child anyhow. If we pretend to cry, he shows concern, comes over and while he pets you asks “Alright?”
