Battlestar Galactica S2E12 – Resurrection Ship Part 2
Battlestar Galactica last night did a good job of wrapping up the Resurrection Ship storyline, and I was very satisfied with the execution storyline. Some of Lee’s parts seemed odd, but all in all I highly enjoyed the show and look forward to watching it again with the podcast.
I understand that Lee floating in water represented him floating in space. My problem with the Lee stuff is it was so long, and seemed to take away from other stuff they could have shown. Of course the one thing I wanted to see more of, the battle, would have risen the episode’s costs, so perhaps that is why they cut it down. Of course the curious thing now is why did Lee want to die?
The battle, what we saw of it, was great. Interesting choice to cut to the middle of the battle and not show the battle progress along. We didn’t see the decoy attempt, nor much of the rest of the build up.
What is Baltar doing? Is he taking control of himself? He doesn’t seem to be as easily manipulated by his 6 anymore. She clearly didn’t appreciate Baltar ignoring her and paying attention to the wishes of the Pegasus 6. I have to wonder if everyone knows how much Baltar was involved in letting the Pegasus 6 go, or if they think the Pegasus 6 just took advantage of the open door and being un-restrained. Perhaps this will be the start of Baltar that we used to see in the old show, where he was with the Cylons directly.
I liked that Adama backed down from the execution order and found it believable and not too big a surprise. I did find it surprising that Cain backed down. It did look like that Cain’s XO (can’t recall his name at the moment) may very well have carried out the order, however reluctantly, had the order came down. Starbuck actually seemed to be more hesitant then I expected her to be. Her comments at the end make me wonder about her. Perhaps she doesn’t know that Cain purposely killed innocent civilians just to force a few civilians to join the crew. Perhaps she doesn’t know that Cain abandoned who knows how many thousands of people with no weapons, no jump drives, and helpless after she stole all she could from their ships; to let those people die at the hands of the Cylons. I find it hard to believe that Starbuck would actually morn the loss of Cain to the degree she seemed to had she known all the facts.
The Adama/Rosalyn kiss at the end was kind of nice and touching. I wonder if they are going to start building that up, or if it was just a moment for them?
