A Wow on Lost S2E9 - What Kate Did
Dec 4th, 2005 by Brian A. Thomas
We are getting used to seeing characters on the show crossover with each other in their flashbacks. In the What Kate Did episode we see Sayid on the TV when Kate is walking into the requitment station to see her father (or the guy she used to call father anyhow). Hattip to the TCF for that one.

Looks like Sayid is under arrest. Perhaps it is the one where they caught him and held him before offering him a trade to catch those guys in Australia?
Somebody pointed out we have to ask if the flashbacks are how people remember them or are the way things really happened? That would change things up a bit since memory plays tricks on you.
There was something odd on the screen when Jack dropped the dirt on Shannon’s body. Some odd effect like a ripple.
There seems to be some continuity errors in the part of the film that was spliced out. His hair is different, and his tie changes slightly. Perhaps not a spliced out part after all, but made to look like it was spliced out for some reason… or each station had the same basic film made, but then why would the part of the Arrow Station have be the same as the part that is missing from Swan station? Unless the experiment was to see if they hooked up somehow.
Regarding the previews for the next new episode (airing 11 January 2006) in Rot13:

Holy cow!
I thought I was the only person ever to notice the ripple effect in this episode! During Shannon’s funeral, Jack drops some dirt on her grave and there is a visual ripple that goes across the screen. No one out there has noticed this except you. Wow, at least i know I am not going crazy. I have had other people watch it and I pause the and slow the scene and they still cannot notice this. What is the significance? At least someone else noticed. Thanks.
Lots of people on the TiVo forum noticed it as well. I passed it off as nothing when I first saw it, but when lots of people there noticed it, I figured it was an actual something. Though I don’t think we got an answer to that bit yet.
I haven’t posted much Lost analysis last season, I’ll try to be on the ball a bit more this season… then again, best laid plans and all…
