Lost out

I forgot to mention last Tuesday that Lost - The Complete First Season is finally out on DVD. You can now watch the first season of what is the best show on TV… followed of course by the new Battlestar Galactica who’s first season comes out on DVD soon.
TV on DVD is one of the bigger markets, and with good reason. Generally they are fairly affordable, though there are exceptions, so for $40 or so, you get 22 hours or so of entertainment. Plus it is a natural fit for DVD. They can put 3 or 4 hours of a show on each DVD, where with VHS tapes, they generally put 1 to 2 hours, so in the space of 2 tapes, you could have the whole series, at a much cheaper cost then the series would have been on VHS. Lots of shows are no longer airing, and if they do, they are in syndicated format, cut from their original form in time and other ways, so DVD is sometimes the only way to watch your favorite shows. Back to the price, even at $60, where a TV on DVD might get a suggested retail price of (but sold at $40 or so), that is $2.73 an hour. At that price, a 3 hour movie on DVD should only be $8.19, but is sold at $20 or so, which is about $6.67 per hour, so the value of TV on DVD is easy to see. I love TV on DVD, and would love to have far more shows… my wishlist to the side has lots of them on it (the more important one to get if you get some would be Farscape
).
