Learn Ruby?

I am trying to decide if I should add learning Ruby, and particularly Ruby on Rails.
The problem being, I already have my plate full at the moment with C#, and as of the moment, I think PHP has it over Ruby. Perhaps after I have learned C# and turn my attention back to learning PHP, [...]

New Orleans, Before and After

There is a nice before and after image of New Orleans taken via the Landsat 7 satellite. When the “after” picture was taken, the waters were raising.

Audio Comentaries via Podcast

You can listen to audio commentaries, much like the ones available on some DVDs, for Battlestar Galactica at their podcast page. They have audio commentaries for all the episodes of this second season and many for Battlestar Galactica - Season One (2004). Basically you start it when the episode starts and listen to the [...]

Ari’s with dad (me)

Ari is with me this weekend while Sara and her mom are in Florida. Sara is attending a Lord of the Rings Convention. Last time Sara called, she was having fun. The only bad thing is I am working this weekend, which makes watching Ari and working at the same time a bit of a [...]

Into the Wayback Machine

Even my humble site made it into the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, starting 17 October 2002.
What is cool, is that is the date they archived the whole site. So there are entries going back as far as 8 March 2002. Some pages are missing, but for the most part it is fairly complete.

I have been watching the second season of Battlestar Galactica, and only 4.25 episodes in, I have to say it may be the best thing on television outside of Lost and it may darn well be as good as that. Pick up Battlestar Galactica - Season One (2004) as soon as it is out [...]

Compact fluorescent confusion

There seems to be contradictory information about compact fluorescent bulbs, mostly on if they can be used in enclosed fixtures. Some manufactures and websites say it is okay so long as they are not used in receded enclosed fixtures. Others say to avoid enclosed fixtures all together. I am not sure whom to believe here.
For [...]

MS goofs the kinetic energy formula

While looking at this Channel 9 thread, I saw the following screenshot (Click image for full size image if you can’t make out the text):

The very first thing I noticed is that they use “v is for velocity” in the explanation, but not in the formula itself. Somebody used “r”in the formula where they [...]

A Truely Rare Blue Moon

There was an “old style” blue moon on August 19th. The old style blue moon was the third blue moon in a season (between an equinox and a solstice or between a solstice and an equinox) that has four moons.
What we more commonly call a blue moon is the second full moon of a calender [...]

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Another of those useless information posts that I make despite nobody caring :
When they speak of 20,000 leagues under the sea, they are not saying they are at a depth of 20,000 leagues, but the length traveled under water. You measure depth in fathoms (6 feet). The Google Calculator says 20,000 leagues is about [...]

Sara Meets Tiger Woods

When I picked up Ari tonight, Sara told me how she sold Tiger Woods and his wife tickets to see a movie. He is in town for the World Golf Championships in Akron.

More Sudoku

I have been using Sudoku Works and Pappocom’s Sudoku program for a while now. Another program, which I haven’t tried yet is SadMan Software: Sudoku.
Yet, another alternative that I found today is Simple Sudoku, which is freeware. It has a few tools that makes learning a few strategies easier, such as auto-pencil, filtering out [...]

Bed Sizes

One of those crazed useless information posts that nobody will care about, but I’ll share anyhow :
While trying to remember what size bed Ari’s new bed will be (I knew it was bigger then a twin, but smaller then the Queen sized bed I have in my room), I learned there are more bed [...]

Ari the climber

Today, I had Ari corralled in the living room. With the gate in place at the bottom of the stairs, I started taking out some wires from his room, I’ll get to why in a bit. I hear crying, and figuring it was just him upset at being left alone in the living room (probably [...]

Test of pingback

This is just a test to see if pingbacks are working now… this story about Why Arrays still has me stumped.

Why Arrays?

Doubt many of the regular visitors know, but just in case somebody knows. Why use Arrays in C# when ArrayLists and other Collections seem so much more flexible, and the book says often more efficient with system resources?

Ari and eczema

Ari has been diagnosed with eczema on his belly. He had a rash, but it’s gone now. Seems it is aggravated by tomatoes in his case which is sad since he loves tomatoes. Lucky for us it doesn’t seem to be aggravated by wheat… He is also on Soy milk now… and is still a [...]

I need cheese cloth

Note to self: I need to get some cheese cloth to block the air/heating vents so Ari doesn’t loose stuff down them, which he is trying to do right now.

In a “What are you” kind of mood

For this post, I’ll point out What Pre-1985 video game character am I:

I am a Light Cycle.
I drive fast, I turn fast, I do everything fast. I even breakfast. I tend to confuse people with my sudden changes of heart. Sometimes I even confuse myself, which tends to cause problems. What Video Game Character Are [...]
